A relaxing day

Leaving Morro bay in the morning we headed north following the coast as close as we can. There is a lot of beaches and where there are beaches, there are surfers. Lots of them. Doesn't anybody work here? LOL

I got off to top off the gas in a little town called Cambia. First off the gas was right at $5 a gallon. That hurt... but they did have a car show going on with some pretty cool cars.

From there we drove by Hearst Castle and did a quick stop at the Hearst- San Simeon state park. They have seals and sealions that come in and just lay around the beach. Kind of like the locals... LOL  I crack myself up...

The road beyond that and up to Santa Cruz is a blast. Lots of curves and hills. The weather had come in with lots of fog and it had cooled off to the mid 50's and it was cold after coming from the south. We did a quick break at one of the overlooks and Lori got to feed the squirrels for a few minutes before we continued on.

The sun came out for a few minutes at Big Sur but promptly clouded over again 5 miles further up the coast.

We wandered through downtown Monterey before getting in Santa Cruz for the afternoon. We walked down to the Pier and just enjoyed the afternoon, People watching. Neither of us were hungry at all so we totally skipped dinner and went to bed early.

A nice relaxing day with a pleasant ending
