Crossing the plains

Well I am going to call it. I am certain that the Zombie Apocalypse is going to start in Manitoba Canada.  and almost certainly beginning at Winnepeg. The people there have no personality and are not living. They do not even know they are not alive, they are that dead. From the clerk at the hotel to the servers at the restaurant to people that we met. None of them had even a spark of life. If I was that bad, I would shoot myself.

Any way, back to the fun, LOL

We left Winnepeg in the morning headed west. The plains are boring so not a lot to report. We did stop by a hotel on the Trans-Canada Hwy that had a neat plane out front. It was interesting.
Also, I think those stories about it being so flat you could watch your dog run away for three days are greatly exaggerated! By the middle of the second day I think you would need a silo to look from and have a good telescope just because of the curve of the earth. Maybe an elephant...
The roads in Canada are real rough. They do a lot more repairs instead of repaving, so if you are on a motorcycle, you had better be prepared for anything. I found the best thing to do crossing the plains is to tuck in behind a trailer or a semi and draft for a while. You can let off the gas, set the cruise and take a nap  (Just kidding!. almost...LOL)

Sunday night we stopped at Regina for the night and stayed at an executive inn. The rooms were great, the people were friendly and the A/C worked real well. We ate dinner at a local pasta place where they make their own pasta and the food was great. The place was busy with locals even though they had no A/C that worked.

We wandered back to the room to cool off, but we were not ready to stop for the evening, so we hopped on my bike and went across town to a local casino where we did our best to help out the local economy :-)

Back to the room for the night and a relaxing evening.

In the morning we made a quick stop to get a Canadian flag for my bike (seeing as it is Canada Day!) and we hit the road. Lori led for the first part, but she doesn't like to, so after a while I took over. Again, there is not a lot to see out here but we did stop at the town of Moose Jaw just to see what it was like and we did go by Chaplin Lake where they get a lot of their salt from.
We stopped for another break as the temperature was getting into the upper 80's at a casino in Swift Current to cool off a bit before getting back onto the bikes and driving into Medicine Hat for the evening
We had dinner at a local buffet and wandered around a bit before going back to the room. They have an indoor pool, a sauna and a hottub here, but the pool is the only thing that sounds good. It is still 90 degree's outside.

Tomorrow we go to Calgary. We are going to leave early to beat the heat and get time to see the town...

Talk to you soon!
