Day 10 - We are here!

Well we made it to Key west!

We got up to a cloudless sky and warm winds to start us off on the final leg into Key West. The traffic was light and the travel was easy. There are a lot more islands here than what you think. It seems that there was a bridge to another "Key" just about every 5 miles.

We did get to stop at Robbies resort to feed the Tarpon (thanks Morg) Those fish are huge! One guy was feeding them, and even though the signs tell you to be careful - They bite, He wasn't and they did. Major bruising and a lot of pain. We did have to stop so Lori could pet the other major wildlife there too.

The very first thing we ran into when we got to Key West was a major road incident that had Hwy 1 blocked. It was starting to get warm and the rain clouds were rolling in. My bike was OK, but Lori's bike is air cooled and it was getting warm, so we did a quick turn and routed around and back to Hwy 1 to get to our room for the next 3 days.

We checked in and got the bikes unloaded and they were very kind to let us park them right by the entrance where we could keep an eye on them. We walked into the room and the very first thing out of Lori's mouth was, "oh no! You did not get a room with no air conditioning did you?" It was just turned off... I know better!

We got everything in the room and relaxed a few minutes and decided to go wander a bit. We were only a couple of blocks from Duval street so we wandered over and I was thinking that Mallory Square was to the south, so we turned and started walking. Oops, wrong direction... We turned around and walked back north and got into the section of town that we know a little bit. We saw some of the famous bars and then the rains hit. I personally think someone turned a monster shower on over us it was raining so hard.. We made a mad dash back to the room to get out of it and relax. (or at least as fast a mad dash as a 53 year old fat man can make! LOL)

We are here! Did I already say that?  LOL
